Bought some nice stuff over the last couple of weeks Sam Prekop (Sea and Cake) – For the new Professor Arcade Fire – Funeral Jack Johnson – In between Dreams Lou Barlow – Emoh Love em all – anyone else heard any of the above? Any thoughts?

of the above i've only heard the Arcade Fire, its brilliant. Gets better every listen.

Yeah, I really like the Arcade fire...Definitely gets better on each release I bought Ambulance Ltd. Quality stuff.

Arcade Fire are one of those bands who seem to deserve all of the media coverage they have been getting. Their album takes a couple of listens to warm to but turns out to be really great. Should be interesting to see them at Electric Picnic. I've always liked Jack Johnson and was looking forward to his new album. While it is good, it just can't match his previous effort 'On And On'. He's certainly someone to be aware of anyway. Anyone like the new Springsteen album? I want to like it but just can't get into it. Maybe it's the fact that they are (mainly) older songs or I miss the rocking addition of E Street Band or that even though it has a more fuller sound than 'Ghost Of Tom Joad' or 'Nebraska' it still lacks that killer bite......Am I missing something as alot of critics are heaping praise on it but I think that's just because he is The Boss.

the review on the BBC website really slated it; first critical review I saw of it. as much as I love bruce, it's a very ordinary album and certainly nowhere near 'nebraska'.

tom mcrae - all maps welcome ryan adams & the cardinals - cold roses obi - diceman lopez (oldish one i somehow forgot i had) or at least i will be listening to them when i get my minidisc back, when my bro gets out of hospital, which will be soon, hopefully. or when my new powerbook shows up and i can put some new stuff on my ipod, which is mac formatted despite my current and hopefully extremely temporary mac-free existence... feckin call centres...

Yeah it's pretty good. I liked 'We Have The Facts And We're Voting' alot so I recently got 'Transatlanticism' and wasn't let down. I really want to get the 'John Byrd Ep' though.

John Byrd EP isn't very good, I thought. Ben Gibbard's acoustic session on KEXP is fantastic though.
