In the snippety last few pages of the latest Hotpress (I think), there's a thing saying about the decline of Tower but that the Irish ones will be unaffected. Good!

this is very sad news, I always loved going into tower be it in Wicklow Street , NY , London. f**k off with yer business models, Tower is way cheaper and better value than HMV. The staff in HMV are very good, always 100% helpful and sound, but thats all they have going for them, they are rip off merchants for sure, I was in there a few weeks back and they wanted 24.99 for a Richard Hawley CD called Late Night Final which is out about 4 years, strange that he's just been nominated for a Mercury, and sure werent they caught out for upping their prices just before sales ? and them sales you very seldom or at least I do find anything interesting. but HMV rant aside, tower has a good vibe, great specialist sections, some of the staff could be a tad more polite in Wicklow Street but I hope it doesnt go, at the end of the day, it means less choice for music buyers who will pay higher prices elsewhere.

I'll be sad to see Tower go. I've got some great bargains in there over the years. The last time I was in there I picked up You Are Free by Cat Power for under a tenner. I must agree that the staff in Road are lovely and their stock is very reasonably priced for such a small shop. Also City Discs have possibly the best selection of second hand CDs in Dublin and their staff are quite nice. Which is a lot more than what can be said about Freebird Records. What a bunch of C*nts. They have the most ignorant staff that I've ever encountered anywhere and they're ridiculously over priced as well. €14 for a 12" single that can be picked up for half the price else where? I wouldn't give them the steam of my p*ss.

As far as I was told, this doesn't effect the Dublin store..
