Yeah nice one! Brave man to attack a sacred cow like the Arcade Fire. Just right now they are about the best act on the planet. Long may it continue......

Funeral is not only the best album to be released this year it is the best album to be released in several years. Plus I've seen some quality live acts in my time and I've never seen anything better than their performance at Electric Picnic. I'm with Klootfan on this one, If you're going to make a statement like that then you're going to have to elaborate...

eh, thats a bit of a monster sweeping statement. the best album in several years? what about venice, sung tongs, madvilliany, nino rojo, milk eyed mender, mastered by guy at the exchange, happiness, one bedroom, how i loved you, sing other people, akron/family, lost and safe, school of the flower, handwriting, young prayer, spirit they've gone they've vanished, wonderful rainbow, all the leaves are gone, and the other several hundred great albums released in the past few years. man its not good or groundbreaking. to me it sounds like a blend of the pixies, jeff buckley, the frames and broken social scen

You could describe almost every band going today as a blend of x, y and z. By your reasoning, there arent many groundbreaking bands out there.

As far as I'm concerned Meadowlands is the one record to top it this millenium.

Funeral is the best album I've heard this year - lots of catchy, original songs. Can't wait to see em live.

i agree, very overrated. i saw 20 minutes of them at electric picnic and hated them intensely, over intense vocals, no melodies, clever clever instrumentation, too many people on stage, not everybody likes this band - and mark my words in 5 years time you will wonder what all the fuss was about.

No harmonies maybe, but they have plenty of melodies...
