I have to admit to being highly sceptical about anything Mick Jagger says in public or towards anything the Rolling Stones intend to release, especially with their world tour due to hit Dublin next year. But their latest album 'A Bigger Bang' is pretty good. Not their best but still worth turning the volume up for. Anybody got opinions on it or their world tour?

well man i know this is a very simplistic point of view but... Ultimatley if they wanna keep goin And people wanna keep hearing and seeing Why not.....? They're doin what they love and people are getting what they want I'm sure the fans are aware that Jagger and co. are no longer in their prime but they still shifts those records and tickets so...yea..why not.

What benni said. Although, it sucks that Keef is too busy touring to play Johnny Depp's dad in the new Pirates... movie. That would be my only complaint. And the fact that their tour ticket prices are stupidly expensive.

let them carry on, of course! no ageism here, not when larry gogan is still probably the only decent DJ on daytime irish radio!!! I agree with gar, their new stuff is actually okay, 'rough justice' is fairly catchy - only jagger could get away with that line about roosters and c*cks :D as regards the world tour, it's probably the stones for slane - or else ac/dc.... ;D

i couldn't care less about the rolling stones. they aren't my generation, they don;t influence or interest me in any way, and i think the particular s**t blues crap they peddle died long ago.

John Coltraine ain't my generation, neither was Hank, Beethoven or Rory, but their stuff sounds fresher now than ever. Does the age of musicians, or their classic recordings, really matter?

no, of course not. but the rolling stones stuff post 1990 isn't very "fresh". at all.

Saw them in Chicago a couple of weeks back. Enjoyable stuff once you forget how much you paid to get in and don't vomit at the sight of $25 programmes. They only played one night and the place was bare;y sold out due to the high prices. U2 could get away with charging the same but they don't fair play to them. So how were they? Pretty good. Jagger still has loads of energy to burn and could teach younger bands a thing or two. The gutarists don't just plod through the same tunes but seem to interpret them and work off each other. And of course it's a good stage show. Verdict: if you like their stuff, go see em. Even in the expanse of Croke Park it would be good fun. But it will cost ya the price of an Oxegen / EP ticket. Hmmmm....

The stones still bite the arse off rock n roll live.....plus the new stuff aint so bad, even the stuff "post 1990", steel wheels was pre '90 as was dirty work, both crap, but must say voodoo lounge and bigger bang (bridges to babylon was horrible) are pretty useful. they are ridiculously expensive to see in concert though, 80 notes in 2003 for the point..........
