Hi everybody, I'm visiting Dublin (from Norway) in a couple of weeks and would like to catch a live show or two while I'm there, if there's anything interesting on. Would greatly appreciate any good tips about bands playing or other stuff happening that's worth checking out (aspecially anything that's off the radars of the likes of Ticketmaster). I'm in Ireland for a week from Thursday the 4th of August, and, so far, seeing Presidents of the USA on Saturday is candidate #1. Alternatives to said Ticketmaster for upcoming events in Ireland, are also very much of interest. Hope you can help, thanks (and sorry about misspelling and other errors). Cheers, Knut

you should go to the evolution fest. it won't be crowded, so you can sit on the grass.

I went to the Evolution Fest's website and learned a bit about it... Looks like a nice spot. Is this a very music industry-oriented, tight-scheduled 3-song showcases type of event, or what can be expected to be the general vibe there? "won't be crowded", meaning low ticket sales or just being in a big venue? Edit: Read about it in the other forum, looks cool. Ends kind of early though.

some good acts at evolution. its the first time its been staged vortexsurfer so the line up is not going to be as incredible as some already established festivals but maybe if you return next year it might have developed somewhat...

Well, now that's been cancelled. Faen. This is not looking too good. We're down to Roger Sanchez on Friday and "millions of peaches" on Monday.

    - On the 4th, there is a choice of New Colour Soul in Whelan's, The Jimmy Cake in The Village or The Rags in Temple Bar Music Centre - On the 9th, there is a decent line-up for the Ruby Sessions in Doyle's (across from Trinity College) where Bill Coleman, Colm Lynch, Kevin Ryan and demillac are due to play Overall, there isn't alot on offer for the week you are arriving over on!!!!
