I know this is a music website but it's the only forum I go on and I just wanted to let you know that Christopher Reeve, the worlds only true Superman, died over the weekend.

Yes, it was very sad news. Reeves probably was the best piece of casting Hollywood ever saw. He was an actor hired to play a hero who turned out, in real life, to be a true hero.

So many heroes have been passing away these last few years and its sad to see it happen. I know many of them do get mentioned in magazines/newspapers but some of them never really recieve the praise they deserve. It has been hard I'm sure for many to let go of George Harrison, Barry White, Nina Simone, Warren Zevon, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Johnny Ramone, Chistopher Reeve, Marlon Brando.....the real heroes that contuined to entertain the global public for so long. May they all truly rest in peace!!!!

Not forgetting James Stewart, James Coburn, Chris Latta, Bill Hicks...From about '94 onwards it's been downhill as far as really genuinely talented people go. And whats left in the ashes? Sub-par talent.

I'm sure that I left many out like James Coburn and Elliott Smith. But I don't nessacarily think that the one's left are below par talents. What about Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Clint Eastwood, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young....so many greats still among us.

Thats not what I meant. We've still got talented people left, but the newer generations dont have any of the spark, ingenuity or pizzaz of the classics.

this was something i wanted to bring up but could'nt figure out the right wording/approach. i think there are guys who are as good as the classics but they just prefer not to get into the limelight. my all time favorite front man Mike Patton was asked to join inxs when the other dude killed himself, he told them in no uncertain terms where to go. then velvet revolver asked him to join up, he said thanks but not his scene, so they got scott weiland instead. he doesnt seem to want the glory, which is a shame for us. basically what im saying is i think alot of potential greats are wiser than the previous generations equivilants and maybe dont like the celebrity rubbish that goes with being popular in the coldplay/u2/ etc kind of way. just my twisted opinion!

Thank God Mike Patton didn't join up with INXS - a band as bad as that should never be reformed!

Good point, musicians have been forced into being far too calculated and careful by the media vultures who tear them apart on the sniff of failure. It wasnt like that back in the good ol' days!
