Yes, I did indeed Jan. I love the album but I feared they wouldn't be able to reproduce the huge, layered sound of it live as a two-piece, and I turned out to be right. They have bucket-loads of energy and a child-like enthusiasm on stage but they need a BASS-PLAYER! It sounded like listening to the album through your laptop. Tonnes of bass on the album so why not do it live? Still a great band though.

That's what I was worried about too Quint. Such a shame. Perhaps they'll engage the services of a bassist next time out of the traps.

Been thinking about abut this for ages and still can't figure out what order I'd put stuff in. I think XX - the XX is just nudging ahead as my favorite album this year, but mainly because I've been listening to it again, so in no particular order:

    The XX - XX
    Sonic Youth - The Eternal
    Moderat - Moderat
Little Boots - Hands (seems cruelly overlooked in the La Roux/Florence tussle, maybe she should invest in some red hair dye)
    La Roux - La Roux
    Metric - Fantasies
Yo La Tengo - Popular Songs
    Fever Ray - Fever Ray
    Pictureplane - Dark Rift
    Lightning Dust - Infinite Light

..and a nagging feeling there's something else that should be on the list instead. 2009 has been a great year for music I reckon, my only problem is not being able to "process" the albums quick enough, not enough time to sit down an listen to a lot of albums properly, ask me in six months when I've had a chance to listen to some of the stuff released in the latter half of the year properly and it might be a fairly different list! Haven't had a chance to listen to Dark Room Notes new one or get my hands on the new Channel One/ch-1/whatever they call themselves these days album. Anyone that whinges about the state of modern music this year needs a slap, it's fragmented and not always easy to find, but there's great stuff out there right now.

    4. Telefon Tel Aviv – ‘Immolate Yourself’

Was actually a little disappointed by this one, good, but didn't "click" with it.
