Ever had an album in your collection that you thought was great at the time, but nowadays, while just about listenable, would just not hold your interest? Just listening to "Utopia Parkway" by Fountains Of Wayne and while the whole tongue in cheek cheesy power pop thing seemed like fun at the time, now it just seems a bit dull. Any you could list?

Suede: the production sounds so thin, even on 'Dog Man Star' - an album I worshipped when it came out and a long time after. A lot of '90s British indie in general, but I feel more disappointed about how Suede sound to me now. (I note that for their best-of they remixed certain tracks, most notably putting a beefier vocal on 'Trash'.)

Any mid-'80s UK big-name chart music made on a Fairlight with that flat, artificial sound. I'm thinking especially of Peter Gabriel, Duran Duran, Nik Kershaw, all the stuff that was dominating the pop charts at the time. The exception is 'Hounds Of Love' because Kate Bush = genius and could make a washing machine sound wonderful.

All disco, except Chic/Sister Sledge and Donna Summer/Giorgio Moroder's 'I Feel Love'. (Are Chic playing at Electric Picnic? If so, FFS go and see them!)

And I guess few people, if any, listen to pre-'65 Beatles i.e. anything before 'Help' and 'Rubber Soul'.

Back in 1996 I remember being so completely and utterly enamored with Throwing Muses "Limbo" album. Deffo my album of the year back then. Put it on the other week and it's just so average. Don't know however if it as a question of it aging badly, or my tastes moving on...

A recentish album, The Enemy's "We'll Live and Die in These Towns" had me enthralled for about a month or so after its release. Now when I listen to it I find it pretty dull, which is shame because it seemed like an important album to me at the time.
