A free outdoor festival near Chateau French Letter this weekend is featuring an Israeli band that mixes klezmer sounds with punk attitude. Their name?

Oy Division.

They've now become my favourite band name since that Dublin metal group called The State Pathologist Dr John Harbison.

Any other brilliantly-named bands doing the rounds at the moment? We'll need proof, e.g. a link or a video. Just to show that Oy Division exist, here they are live:

Always loved "Half Man Half Biscuit". One act who didn't just stop at the band name. Hardly a song title from them that doesn't tickly one's socks off.



I also always thought that "Creedence Clearwater Revival" was a pretty much out there as a name, if not a great one. You can imagine someone in the record company taking the lads aside and suggesting something a bit less clumsy to pronounce (all those c's and r's....). If ever one was to do a ranked list of bands and the ratio of they albums sold to peculiarity of their name I think CCR would come out somewhere near the top.

I've always liked the name 'Bastard Sons of Boris Karloff'.
