The top 40 albums of 2008 - as voted by the CLUAS readers - have been drawn up and can be checked out on this page. Of the 9 Irish acts on the shortlist it was Jape who landed the most votes, securing a very respectable number, more than the likes of Sigur Ros, Nick Cave and Kings of Leon. Nice one, Richie. Thanks to all who voted. The results of the writers poll will follow in 24 hours. Eoghan |

Deserved. American Music Club's 'The Golden Age' however, would have been worthier still. 'Starlings' is a wonderful song. |

I'm glad the Irish acts showed so well, and deservedly so. Not keen about Elbow myself but that's a strong top 10. |

Ah well each to their own I suppose, I personally thought the MGMT album was poor apart from the fantastic singles. And then I would have liked to see dEUS do alot better than 35th. Fair play to Jape! |

Nexus6, the shortlist of 40 albums that voters could choose from was put together by the CLUAS writers. If you write an article for the site you will be invited to help shape the shortlist next year. Are you on? |

Fantastic to see how well the new Tindersticks has been doing. It really is a lovely record. I can't see what the fuss is re Bon Iver. Though I am seeing them play in the Sydney Festival in January so I'm hoping to be converted! |

I can't see what the fuss is re Bon Iver. Though I am seeing them play in the Sydney Festival in January so I'm hoping to be converted! I have to say I love the album. I dont really see them converting you live though if the album doesnt do it for you... Let us know how it went! Does anybody share my dislike of Okkervil River at all??? I only have heard The Stage Names, but that was enough for me. Cannot understand why Ive heard so much about them in the past 10 months. IMO The Cluas Writers have made a mistake in not including Becks Modern Guilt, which I have really enjoyed. Im also surprised to see that Portisheads Third didnt make the cut. But Im aware that I need to submit a review before I can start giving my input to the polls! |

I can't believe Portishead's Third didn't make it. Album of the year for me...though probably my own fault for not getting my vote in on time... |

I liked it too...but I just happened to like 10 other albums more. And now you've learned your lesson: yes you could have! :) |
