I have heard a whisper that certain venue owners met and discussed various matters, agreeing certain policies that they will carry out.
The one that concerns me the most is the door take for bands.
Basically to drum up business earlier in the evening they are going to try to give the bands the door only until 10pm.
They think that this will force bands to make people come earlier but f**k that. f**k that several times over, people will not come out any earlier and this will mean that bands get f**ked over even more than they are.
Venues that bring out this policy should be boycotted , after all we are the people going to the venues and also many people here are the bands.
Dont be sheep, dont let this happen.

Yeah i totaly agree. The venues in this city treat bands really badly. (1) Most places are around €300 to rent. (2)The band only get the door till 10.30 (if even that). (3) To advertise for a gig costs a band another €150 on flyers and posters (which in my opinion, the venue should pay for). (4) In some cases the sound engeneers dont turn up till 30mins before the doors open leaving bands with a s**t sound (5) then when the gig is over there is no lock up for a bands equipment, which means after a gig most bands either try and hail a taxi for their equipment or cue at the bar (of the venue they have just rocked the f**k out of) to pay €5 for a pint.

I agree with you both it is a f**kin sham and has been going on now for some considerable amount of time.But I have to say that boycotting the venues will not work.If you do this it will stop people in general who go to these places e.g (dorans,Voodoo,Music Centre,Whelans) to see live bands altogether.There has to be another way maybe if two or more bands share the night they can cut their costs, but I am afraid after that I don`t have another answer, but I agree that something to be done and soon but what?
On the bright side of things it is good to see a new Venue open and night`s I have been in the Hub, I have to say have been good experiences.....more please!

Here here. Its a f**king disgrace the way bands have to shell out hundreds of euro to these hungry bastards who are making money at the bar anyway.This thing of bands only getting the door till 10pm is the last straw.Someone needs to scare the s**te out of these f**kers by naming and shaming the venues that are unanimously ripping bands off and sitting down to hatch new methods of extorting more money out of bands.Pricks.

Well listen I'm in a band and I havn't experienced this door until ten o clock bulls**t yet.But I guarantee yis if I come across the cocksuckers that are doin it Ill have no qualms in plastering their names on every music message board I can find.I can't see any other ways of combatting this s**t coz the venues have bands over a barrell and well they know it. No need for guns though Jimbo...Yet.
