Anyone at BSP in Whelan's? I'm not familiar with much of their stuff, but they have a curiously Mid/Late 80s 'Classic Indie' sound - reminded me of any number of bands from that era. Some good songs in evidence, though the ones sung by the main vocalist had a lot more power than the ones sung when he changed places with the bassist - and the bassist ended up singing a lot. I enjoyed the bit where they dragged an air raid siren on stage for the finale of one of the songs, and there was definitely energy in evidence. Though the addition of the violin / tuba smacked a little of Arcade Fire bandwagon jumping.

this has been mentioned before... though note that arcade fire were fans of the first british sea power album before they released any music themselves...

just a point... wasn't at the gig...

Very disappointed I couldn't go to this one; had to go away for the night. Their latest album is well worth a listen, better than I'd hoped.

Ah-ha, there you go. I hadn't thought about the fact they pre-date AF. That must be a bit of a sickener for them. I didn't think they were all that bad, but I kinda felt there was something missing. With regard to the stage antics, it seems to have bitten them in the proverbial ass when their cornet player fell off a 12 foot PA stack as this piece from drowned in sound shows... http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/2851519
