I saw him live last night in Paris and I've never been so affected by a concert. It was entertaining and moving and joyous and basically just bloody brilliant.

I hardly expect a debate here: could anyone NOT love this guy's music?

Yes, me. Its whimsical, limp-wristed rubbish.

yeah, he's great live, but I've seen him so much recently that it's lost its affect slightly. Freewheel is an amazing song - something that Snow Patrol would kill for, and his performance at the Choice Music Prize evening was brilliant.

Freewheel is a good pop song, but its starting to get played to death. Saw him on ATL TV a few years ago doing a song called "I could go to London" (or something like that), and that was a bit more interesting. I get the impression that he's caught between wanting to make big-selling commercial music and doing his own off-kilter vaudeville stuff. I'm sure this year will tell.

The 'I could go to London' song is called 'Salvation Tambourine', and it's on the 'Songs From The Deep Forest' album along with 'Freewheel'.
