So, It's that time again. Another Corporate outing with Guinness. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the Witnness festival, however I wonder would it ever be possible to have a fantastically varied wonderland of a festival like Glastonbury in this country. Any thoughts?

Just enjoy the bloody show... ...and NO it would not be possible so you should thank these generous people for funding such events.

MCD and Guinness only put on the festival for 1 reason and that's the massive profit they make out of it. They couldn't give a shit about you thay just want your money. http://www.kaboommusic.cjb.net

Yes, it is run for for profit. No, it's not generosity and, in response to the original question, the only feasible alternative to the unpopular corporate funding is to get incredibly rich and fund it yourself. Sounds like a lot of hard work to me and if I were rich enough to pay all those bands I wouldn't be bothered inviting the general public. I'd have them play in my banquet hall, oh yes! Pipe dreams aside, you've got to be a player in the game before you can change the rules. For an actual alternative, come see the strangleberries in the plough on thursday; one stage, three bands, dozens of people and you... I can feel my ass loosening with every pathetic plug, sigh. Long live the new flesh
