What is everyone on Cluas currently listening to? And what are they looking forward to hearing? Listening to: - The Frames 'The Cost' : Really loving this new album. - Grizzly Bear 'Yellow House' : An excellent album that keeps getting better. - Dension Witmer 'Are You A Dreamer?' : Soaked in delectable tender melodies. - The Black Keys 'Magic Potion' : A return to form for one of the best blues-rock bands around. - The Marshall Tucker Band 'Anthology' : Surprisingly, a great collection of tunes. Looking forward to: - The Decemberists - The Long Blondes - The Shins - The Things - The Marshals - Cap Pas Cap

It's wonderful - really ambitious, brilliantly realised! I can't wait to hear Joanna Newsom's new record Ys. Whispered reports suggest it's very special indeed.

dEUS - Worst Case Scenario (Lost it for aaaaaages, it arrived in the post from Amazon this morning and I'm now remembering how awesome it is) MotionCitySoundtrack - Commit This to Memory (OK GO are supporting them next week, so I bought the album to check them out. Loves it) Billy Talent - Billy Talent II (It's growing on me in a really big way) Stars - Set Yorself on Fire (it's owny beewwww-ahhh-fiiillllll) Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (Took me a while to get into, but now I've got it, it's wicked!) And an unsigned English band called Far From the Dance. Their 3 track EP is really great. Looking forward to the Fratellis album and finally hearing the Decemberists as well.

Wasn't a big fan of their last EP 'Chulahoma'......I know they were cover tunes but I was expecting the type of songs that appear on the new record. Looking forward to seeing them in TBMC.

I don't really like the new Decmeberists one, but Joanna Newsome's one is pretty good. Bit hard to get round the track times (12 min each approx) but its still pretty good. Does anyone have the shins one yet?

Spot on Norman, Rubber Factory a wonderful album and a reminder of how good a guitar can sound. Chulahoma nuthin special and, after only a single spin, mind you, not at all impressed with th new one - sounds like it was recorded in a barn....really lookin forward to th gig though.

Can't wait for new Shins record. Also think Cap Pas Cap is gonna be one of the Irish releases of '07. Gotta say The Things do very little for me live, and I can't imagine things will be better on record

I think the male singer is okay but the female vocalist is outstanding, I think her name is Amy Millan or something and she's got her own album out??? New M83?????!!!!! D'ya have more details? Last album was exceptional.

"Amy Millan or something and she's got her own album out??? " - Yeah it's called 'Black Honey' (I think. actually it has a longer bit attached to the name, but i can't remember what it is) and it's great.

Yes. Some of the lyrics grate (like with the Postal Service) and it's all a bit too sweet. Sweetness is fine coming out of Amy but not so much with Tarquil or whatever his name is.

I caught them at ATP in May and thought that they were fantastic. If you're bothered by such things check out how high above the kit the overhead mics are placed. The drummer beats the hell out of his kit.

the stars album - i'm with whoever called it "too sweet" above unfortunately... i could only stomach two listens when i first got it and it hasn't been out of its sleeve since... i really wanted to like it... ... my current totally unrational dislike of quirky canadian and american indie bands certainly doesn't help... (aside from arcade fire who seem to remain vital)

Not getting into the solo album so much. It's mostly laid back alt-country stuff, mostly. She also sings on a few tracks for Broken Social Scene. Great voice.

I thought that set was rather dull, actually, but I'm biased because I don't really like his voice.. they are very good at their thing, at any rate.

well, somewhere between the two, anyway. I prefer the storyscape Tain parts, I think, but his Impossibly Catchy Pop Songs are rather ace too :)

I just got the Giva a Man a Kick album and it totally rocks, seen them at the Electric Picnic and they were amazing and the album doesn't disappoint. I'm also listening to Bonnie Prince Billy and Tortoise "The Brave and The Bold" album. I think this album is amazing. I only realized it was a covers album after i heard Donal Dineen say it a while back. Im looking forward to Christmas.

Just thought of something i was looking forward to other than Christmas. Mumblin Deaf Ro is releasing a new album in the new year. I went to see him play an amazing gig with Michael Knight in Bewleys a few weeks ago and his new songs are as good if not better then the songs on "Senor My Friend". I think this man is the best singer songwriter to come from this country.
