Inspired by Elmo95's mention of programme - whats peoples favorite all time Jools performances? The one that always stands out in my mind is Airbag by Radiohead circa 1997....? It was just as OK Computer was released and they played a few tunes on the show - with Airbag being the closer for the show. That was around the time that I was beginning to take music very seriously indeed and I remember actually thinking to myself that my mouth was quite literally hanging open in awe by the end. f**king amazing.

KT Tunstall's first performance was pretty impressive, as were Arcade Fire. Courtney did indeed work as a photographer for a very short time for Hotpress when she lived in Dublin. She also got arrested once for getting into a fight outside Bewley's on Grafton Street.

Sigur Ros were pretty amazing as always, earlier this year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3r18Wt8ot1U I remember see the Pumpkins playing for the first time live since Mellon Collie, when they were debuting songs from Adore. It was a real "Did you see?" moment the next day in school.

Whipping Boy, although their performance was a little more ramshackle than most, it was highly entertaining none the less.. Courtney Love lived in Drogheda too.. Her father was (or is?) a lecturer in Trinners..

Lots of memorable performances but for Ryan Adams stands out as my favourite for some reason, circa those Love Is Hell albums a few years ago. Mazzy Star were rather special too from ages ago...rent out the DVD (laser, Ranelagh!) to check em out.

My fav performance in a show which I think is surprisingly lacklustre and dull when viewed end to end, season to season is Jackson Browne's acoustic version of 'Running on Empty' which appeared in the same episode as KT Tunstall's debut. And if that upsets you, here's another one, I never 'got' John Peel, always thought he had a 'yawn' taste in music and was a strange little hobbit type of a man, like Bilbo Baggins with a walkman

Also Nick Cave doing Abbatoir Blues with 3 pianos & jools not playing any of them. Last season Gorgo Bordello were mindblowing.Gypsy folk punk madness.

I remember the At the Drive In performance now, it was brilliant, as enthusiastic as it was showboatful giving the two fingers to Robbie Williams who played right afterwards wondering if he could get the chair that the singer stood on and made rock n' roll love to (figuratively). Williams bewildered look was brilliant!

I remember Oasis doing a cracking version of Acquiesce a looonnngggg time ago. I remember being excited about a Hives performance before I realised they were crap. Solomon Burke was immense (in every sense of the word when he played Jools). There is a very enjoyable 3-disc DVD of the best stuff from the series that's available. And it's well worth it.

She did live in Drogheda with her Father around 1979, not sure if he lectured in Trinity though it does ring a bell. Favourite Jools moment was probably L. Cohen or Portishead, which was mind blowing.

I think she went to Trinity and dropped out, her Dad was a roady for the Gratefull Dead so i cant see him lecturing in Trinity

The one performance that sticks out for me is a song performed by a singer called Norma Waterson of Waterson McCarthy fame. Now i have none of her stuff or, indeed, any of the McCarthy folk-dynasty's output but that tune she did just hooked me from the off. Oh .. and of course i can't remember the songs name but i can hum the tune?

Found the Manics performance of AUSTRALIA very powerful. Radiohead's 2+2=5 stunning, Bluetones reminded me of moments of great Brit Pop with SLIGHT RETURN performance, CAST (dont beat me up) when they did I'M SO LONELY was quite heart-string-tugging and Dave Grohl's solo effort of RAZOR was simply MIND BLOWING. That's my Chips worth.
