I'm going to be checking out Maximo Park @ Dolans Clap Your Hands Say Yeah @ The Village Coheed & Cambria @ TBMC The Young Knives @ Eamonn Dorans Damien Marley @ The Olympia and possibly the NME tour @ The Ambassador There's loads of really cool stuff coming up, which is excellent for so early in the year. Hopefully a sign that 2006 will be cracking. What I'm REALLY looking forward to though is going to Death Cab For Cutie in Sweden in February. Woohoo!

The Ch1/The Things/ Humanzi record launch in TBMC on Feb 3rd has to be the gig of the month. All three bands could fill the place on their own so I'd say they'll have to turn a load of people away for that one.

Alot of those artists I've want to see for a good while though. I got most of the tickets before xmas but still have to get a few more. I have some time off in early Feb so a few decent gigs is in order.

Did they not all play in Whelan's last week? I was all set to go then my mind got changed. Yeah We Are Knives did indeed rock. A fingertapping extravaganza. Jazzy bill though. Odd mix.

The Ch1/The Things/ Humanzi record launch in TBMC on Feb 3rd. I thought this gig happened last week? I know another poster clarified but then added humanzi are dj'ing. Forgive my ignorance but what is this gig? Bands play a live set and then a bit of disco dancing later on? How much? Where do I get tickets? missed the gig last week due to being smashed

Maybe Benni can describe better than I can but they rock fairly hard and reminded me a bit of the Rednecks in terms of time changes and fancy bass work. The guitarist fingertaps almost constantly like a very impressive madman and lobs in the odd big fat power chord. Most of it was instrumental but when there are vocals, they're of the shouty metal/punk variety. Very tight too.

THE ANNELSEY HOUSE have great gigs on all the time, its a small bit outside town, but only a few minutes on the bus! Fri 20th Jan The STRUTTS, and Fri 27th Jan HORA - they play an excellent jewish inspired type of thing! Its a no-nonsense venue for the purists out there! Also, MOONDOG MATINEE in RADIO CITY - last Thurs of every month. Its free in, and they give out free tea and cake! Its better then most 'open mic' type nights, and the acts are usually top notch! JAN 26th features Q, Edgar Heaton, and The Blood Red Mountain Band

Yeah I'm being a little bit charmed by Jim Noir - can't totally make up my mind having only heard 2 songs but he's interesting. I get a weird SFA vibe from him.

He's the type of musician you listen to and aren't sure how to react to his music. Kinda in the same vein as Joanna Newsom or Julie Feeney. But the more time you give his latest album, the more it begins to charm you. A very under-rated album to date.

The album is 'Tower Of Love'. Some of the better tracks would be 'I Me You I'm Your', 'Computer Song' or 'Turbulent Weather'. www.jimnoir.com www.myspace.com/jimnoir

I recommend checking out Bad Dog in Eamon Dorans. They're opening for Frantica on Sunday the 5th Feb. Hey, if you can't recommend your own band theres something wrong. Also we'll be in the sugarclub on April 10th.
