Yeah was very good. Was quite impressed by Mono Band too. The only thing that annonys me about The Last Broadcast is Fanning's style of interviewing.

i thought monoband were a bit s**t... i'd heard good stuff and it just seemed a bit sub-radiohead pre ok computer like.(if that makes any sense!) thought the eyebrowy video was f**kin great mind you,(unfortunately cant say same for the ole tune........the rags are dull as f**k.)

One of the main problems I have with it is that it clashes with The View. yes, I know Joe Duffy was on it recently but it's usually a good watch. So I only tend to catch the tail end of The Last Broadcast.

rarely anything decent on this show. there are a few good things, but so much crap.... and personally, i find dave fannings style far too matey and dismissive.

anyone watch this last night? could the magic numbers be any nicer?? they're almost sickly sweet. lets see if they can hang on to that endearing modesty of theirs though. It would be a pity if they let it all go to their heads (although i'd say there's a fat chance of that happening) dave fanning talks way too fast - barely lets the interviewee get a word in edgeways...

There's an e-mail address on the end of the show that goes straight to the producer. info@rumblefilms.com All (constructive) comments will be welcome. Actually, I'll open this up and ask everyone, what would you like to see in an Irish music show??

how about interviews with more up and coming irish bands (i.e. more unsigned acts). you could call it "sounds from the underground" and each week have a slot with an unsigned act, giving them an invaluable opportunity to showcase their talent (or lack of it) on television. it would be fun to see them being interviewed and hearing their take on the irish music industry. you only have to read the Psychofest thread for a few ideas on where you might go looking.....

The footage of Neil Young in the studio recording 'Prarie Wind' was quite good. But I have to admit that the biggest problem (for me anyway) facing The Last Broadcast is that it clashes with The View. I know The View sometimes has bad guests but last night had Sinead Gleeson, Harry Browne and Mark Little, all of whom were good and the topics they discussed (Elizabethtown, Murderball, new Bret Easton Ellis book, Photo exhibition) were interesting. Wonder why RTE haven't figured out that the same people who might watch The View might like The Last Broadcast too! I suppose the easy answer is to record one of them but if either is crap in parts, I want to just switch around other channels to see Chelsea get beat by Betis or whatever.

Tomorrow night on The Last Broadcast is a Geldof special. A big interview with the man, discussing the Live 8 planning and preparation and the gigs themselves. And also how he got Pink Floyd back together for the night. There's performances from the day too including McCartney and U2, The Who, REM, Ashcroft and Coldplay and more...

Watch out for The Edge messing up the riff when playing 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.........a rare mistake in front of so many people, and hardly anybody seemed to pick up on it. Keeping with the Geldof theme, anybody see him getting interviewed by Gerry Ryan the other day? It was a diaster.

Yeah saw most of it. Thought Geldof was honest and articulate as usual but Ryan's a joke. Choice question of the evening was in relation to his work with Africa and poverty, etc. Ryan: "Why are you doing this?" Geldof answered him, Ryan reiterates...."But, but....why?" Geldof: "To stop people dying."

Heard that his gigs were were cancelled due to lack of interest. Though I could be totally wrong. Maybe it was a UK date or summat. He's very very convincing alright. What I think was cool about the interview that's on tomorrow is that he talks with equal energy and passion about music and politics/poverty. One minute he's forcefully talking about Blair and the G8, the next he's like a teenager talking about Pete Townshend bashing his guitar.

Did anyone else feel that in-studio interview with the Foo Fighters felt like a marketing ploy to buy their new album? Grohl was using comparsions almost of 'Physical Graffiti' by Led Zeppelin. Am I missing some underlying genius with the latest Foo's album?

Pity the rest of us don't think the album is as fantastic Dave Grohl thinks it is.

Whatever about the Foos album fair enough, it doesn't have that extra something. I saw them the other night in Melbourne and it was truly a great rawk show. They did pull out all the stops, playing guitar off each other from the opposite end of the hall, drum solos, drummer singing and playing gauitar, Dave Grohl bantering with the crowd and pulling of classic rock poses - all the songs of the new album that were played (Disc 1 only) where fabulous, the lights, pure class.... So whatever about the album, they have it live!!

I wonder what Kurt would think of collaboration with (S)Norah Jones? He goes on about how kids in the future will be asking their music savvy Dads on which is the best Foo's album to buy etc...If my kid asks me that in 20 years' time, I'll tell him before the Foo Fighters there was a little band called Nirvana, I'll dig out the worn out cassette copy of 'Nevermind' from the attic, tell him/her that they were the last great rock band, the last band TRULY meant something, and then watch his/her face as the opening chords of 'Teen Spirit' strike up.........

Jaysus, someone has too much time on their hands. Not only are you listening to too much Today Fm but there must be a hotline between the two of ye. The BIG DEBATE on Ray Darcy now is the ripoff of REARVIEWMIRROR that is Liberty Belle. I'm sorry, not an Autamata fan but she's a very underrated voice and if they were from Scotland they'd be indie favourites now cos generally people are quite shallow. And anything is better that Vedder's howl! (yes I know they had they're moments but I could never forgive them for the teen angst s**te that was Jeremy. Does it suck as much big fat donkey d**k as last week's episode? They need to do more with the "pretentious indie c**t" characters.

they should do an eyebrowy where they take the piss out of dave fanning, loads of material there - man who was really, really into music loses his way and his dignity etc. or maybe theres a clause in their contract with the show which forbids launching satirical missiles at such an obvious target..

eyebrowy is so contrived, I mean indie kids taking the piss out of indie kids I'm sure The Slate would have something interesting to say about it all...

great band .... saw them twice in 2004 the TMBC gig was fantastic, the village one less so. Unfortunately don't think they'll be around these parts for a while, the european tour was cancelled due health problems for Jim James and anyway there was no Irish date this time around.
