I don't think people should be allowed tout on the cluas board. It should be face price, swap or nothing.

well, there is a note which says "Gig tickets cannot be offered for more than face value. Moderators will strictly enforce this rule."

obviously the mods must be getting a back-hander because thats been up now for over a day.

I'm a firm believer in face value......I remember all too well being broke in college and forking out rediculous money for tickets.......not fair

i hope the same policy applies to the guy who is looking for 100 quid for an REM ticket below right now. He says he got burnt on eBay but isnt this touting as well?

I am not touting, i bought it for 100 quid and bought two other tickets for diff days, ended up with a spare...

now i am selling it for the same price i bought, 100% honestly, that is not touting, its called "not losing your b*ll*cks"..i amn't in to make a profit, just trying to shift a ticket that i dont need. seriously....

if i bought it for 50 quid i'd sell it for 50 quid. get a grip.

and i sold it this morning. happy days. I hate touts too.

I'm not the one who should be getting a grip.

A ticket tout is someone who engages in ticket resale for more than the face value of the ticket.

You were selling a ticket for an REM show at more than the face value of the ticket

That, in my view and that of a lot of other people, makes you a ticket tout. And it also makes cluas a very tout-friendly site

    GET A LIFE.....

I DIDNT BUY IT AT FACE, I OFFERED IT AT THE PRICE I BOUGHT IT FOR.
IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY SAYING IF YOU WERE IN THE SAME POSITION THAT YOU WOULD SELL IT FOR LESS THAN YOU PAID FOR IT BECAUSE OF TOUTING, THEN YOU’RE LYING OR YOU’RE AN IDIOT.

TOUTS DO IT TO MAKE A PROFIT WHICH IS A SCUMY THING TO DO. I DIDN’T SO MY CONSCIENCE IS CLEAR. DEAL IS DONE. TOUTS WHO SELL FOR PROFIT ARE SCUM. AND I'M BEGINNING TO THING THIS SITE HAS BEEN INVAIDED BY PINKOS...SALUT!

"That, in my view and that of a lot of other people"

i think based on the majority of your posts you are a whinger and a moan who gives out about absolutely everything...you were calling me an adiot last week because i expressed an opinion. i replied and that seemed to shut you up.

i agree 100% that touting for profit is scum and i have nor would engage in such an activity. i merely paid over the odds for something that i ended up not needing so i offered it and it was purchased at said price. i broke even and someone got a ticket.

if i had bought it at face i'd have sold it at face no problem, i'd never do anyone out of a few bob for a ticket to something.

i have in the past given on free tickets that i recieved in a previous career to such events without so much as giving a second thought to selling them at all.

ooooh, i seem to have hit a nerve with this tout.

if pointing out that you are a tout means getting called a "whinger" and a "moan" so be it.

I hope the cluas moderators will come onboard soon and make a ruling on this. i stand over my original post.

what do you want for that, a medal? it doesnt change the fact that you were touting by trying to sell tickets at above face value for a sold-out show

theres absolutely no difference between the touts who stand outside the Olympia (who knows, you may be one of them?) and people who act all "matey" on bulletin boards like this and then try to shaft people by touting spare tickets.

thats grand Eoghan, i was selling it for the price i bought it for, no profit. didnt want to make a loss, cos that's frankly ridiculous.
but to be honest didnt see the note on the board stating no tics for > face value, so fair enough, they are the rules.

    good work eoghan.

Selling tickets above face value is touting no matter what way you try to spin it and should not be tolerated on Cluas.

the only reason these 'touts' exist is because PEOPLE ARE STUPID ENOUGH TO BUY THEYRE OVERPRICED TICKETS. get a grip everyone. if you want to buy an ovepriced ticket go ahead an buy it. THEYRE NOT SCAMSTERS THEYRE OPPERTUNISTS. if people are dumb enough to fund these oppertunists on theyre heads be it. it shouldnt be causing so much outrage amongst us intelligent more logical folk who realise this oxegen festival comes around every year and hey if you want to go that bad we shudnt be the ones complainin bout you paying way over the odds its a personal decision......like religion....hehhehhehe.......

The problem is that they buy tickets for the sole purpose to sell them on, thus denying real fans a chance of buying them first time around.

That and I doubt that they pay tax on their profits

And they are breaking the contract they have with the promotor

no i think the real problem is the people who buy the tickets... if people were smart enough to not buy them off touts in the first place touts wouldnt exist because there would be no market for them in the first place.. so appeal to people who fund them to stop because theyre just as immoral as the touts themselves.........

Not true at all Beelzebub, I tried to get a ticket for Oxegen when they first went on sale but missed out.
Now I'm sure there where alot of people who got some with no intention of ever going, they just want to tout them and make money.
So if I bought a ticket from a tout beacuse I really wanted to go am I as "immoral" as them?

It must also be noted, that the refusal of ticket issuers (TM in most cases) to give refunds & resell unwanted tickets fuels the Touts as it leaves the punter pretty much with nowhere else to go put sell his ticket to a tout.

buyandsell.ie, big dirty notice boards in Supervalu, Cluas.com..........loadsa places you can flog on a ticket at face value as for whoremaster the ticketmaster.co.uk site allows the trading of tickets, why don't we have that?

From what I've heard TM do take tickets back these days

but its never hard to sell a ticket at face value

I put up a morrissey ticket for the olympia on scarletmist last year, 15 mins later i got a phone call.

Ah great to see a bit of fiery debate on here again!

I too hate touts.... but I have, on occasion, had no choice but to use them to get to a gig that I didn't know about or thought I couldn't make.

I remember once having two tickets for the Dandy Warhols at Hammersmith Apollo and deciding I didn't fancy it (it was just after they released that godawful Odditorium drivel). I went down there on the tube early to sell them. As I was selling at face price, some touts get narky with me. They basically threatened me, then when that didn't work, they tried to coerce me into selling them below face price to them "...you don't want to be hanging round here all night..."..."... it's not even sold out...". I promptly told the tout to "Expletive off".

Then this guy appears. A real Dandys fan, desperate for two tickets. He walked over and said..." I know you're not a tout but I'll give you 100 each for those two...". I replied that I only wanted face price, 25 each. His face brightened like you would not believe. I took the money and waved it in the tout's face. The tout knew that he had just lost minumum 150 quid and I went home on the train a happy happy man.

My motto? Use them when you have to, abuse them when you can.
