You have to admit: it looks impressive. And even this version of this song sounds much better than the album version:

I have to admit that, even with tickets in hand, I was all neutral about seeing them on this tour. But the reports from Barcelona I've been reading - and clips such as this - have me more than intrigued and, shucks, even excited.

Hmmm... do you think that perhaps U2's legacy will not be their recorded music but their live shows? I mean, how they've transformed the rock concert into something that's (a) multimedia, like Zoo TV (b) quasi-religious/mass rally, something that other acts and their messianic singers try to copy, (c) a re-imagination of how to use the arena space, like this current tour seems to be.

Was U2's legacy ever going to be anything other than their constant reinvention and reimagining of what a live show should be.  To me, U2 will always be a much better band live than they ever were on record [/personal opinion]

That stage set-up looks amazing!

24/07 in Croker will be my first U2 gig and Im looking forward to it. I dont think the new album is that bad either. I've friends that have been much bigger fans of the band than I for a long time. They all seem to reckon its absolute rubbish but from what I've heard its better than the last attempt.

I dont know if its just the pc that Im working on but I cant see that image.

It's a good-quality embedded video of them playing 'I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight' - the link is www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5MjeljkTeI

The Culture ran a piece yesterday questioning u2's creativity along side a picture of the gargantuan and v impressive 360 stage and 80 000 onlooking fans. It smacked of the usual u2 begrudgery. Whilst u2 have been pretty poor in their studio output, they are streets ahead creatively with their live performances. With less and less money being made from album / download sales, playing live is where its at, and with that in mind, surely u2 are still a major force.....?
